The Wall That Heals - coming to Merced, CA, March 28-31, 2024

The Wall That Heals, a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, along with a mobile Education Center, is coming to Merced, CA on March 28-31, 2024 at Merced College (3600 M Street, Merced, CA 95348) and will be open 24 hours a day and free to the public.

The Wall That Heals honors the more than three million Americans who served in the U.S. Armed forces in the Vietnam War and it bears the names of the 58,281 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam. The Wall That Heals was curated by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF); the nonprofit organization that built the Vietnam Veterans Memorial (The Wall) in Washington, D.C. in 1982. VVMF continues to lead the way in paying tribute to our nation’s Vietnam veterans and their families. VVMF’s mission is to honor and preserve the legacy of service in America and educate all generations about the impact of the Vietnam War and era through programs, ceremonies and education materials.

The next All-Services Military Retiree Seminar is planned for April 27, 2024 on Coast Guard Island, Alameda, California.

New ID Cards

The Department of Defense is updating it's ID cards to meet moderns security requirements, including those issued to retirees.  The capability to issue the new Next Generation Uniform Services ID Card will continue to be introduced at ID card issuing facilities during 2024.  Existing ID cards are valid until expired, so there's no need to make an appointment just to get a new card.
